reaction blog. Nick. w

After I finished the book I had mixed emotions on the whole thing, it complete caught me off guard. I don't know why lennie wouldn't stop after Curlys wife told him not to mess her hair up the first time when she said it in a normal tone. I knew  Lennie was strong but I didn't not know that he was that strong, that just by shanking her it broke her neck. Why would he only cover half of her body, why not hide her body in the hay and the act like he knew nothing about her death or disappearance.  After George found out what Lennie had done I thought that he would just let him go so that they wouldn't shoot him. For one I never would have thought George would be able to shoot Lennie. I didn't think it was necessary for George to shoot him. I personally think that slim knew it was George that took Carlson luger and that lennie had never touched it and that is why he got George out of there so fast. The whole thing really threw me for a loop.

Of mice and men microcosm blog. Nick. W

Curley represents the bullies of society he is always picking on people.  Even if you have done nothing wrong he will go out of is way just to make you feel like dirt. The only thing he is doing is seeking attention, because that is the only way he can get attention and he feels better about himself when he puts others down. He also represent some of the small guys in society that do not like big guys.

George represents the older protective brother in society. Yes he gets annoy by lenneis forgetfulness and sometimes wishes lennie wasn't dumb or maybe even around but he always forgives him. He may have an odd way of showing it but he truly likes him. At the end of the day George always comes back, always keeps lennie safe and backs him up.

Slim represent the old wise grandfathers in society.  No matter what the problem is he always has great advice. When you’re talking to him he can sit there and take everything in as calm and smooth as glass. Every time he opens his mouth the amount of authority and wisdom that comes out is overwhelming.  He stays cool in every situation and is never scared.

Lennei represents the mentally sick people of society. He's the most caring person in the book. He means no harm, and wouldn't hurt a fly if it was up to him, He does not mean to hurt anyone he just doesn't know his own strength.

Candy represents the people who are just trying to get by. He doesn't want any trouble from anyone and doesn't want to become wrapped up in someone else's business

Curley's wife represents those people who are always trying to cause trouble and get into everyone's business and stir something up. She also represents the tramps that marry for money or for other things and then start messing around with other guys and complaining about her marriage.

Carlson represents low pay hard workers of society. He works hard from sun up to sun down make next to nothing.

The boss represents the bosses society. He gets all the money and doesn't really care as long as job gets done.

Crooks represents the blacks who are not treated fairly.

The character of Curley. Ncik. W

Curley is a short, thin, scrappy, extremely tan, with brown eyes, handy, curly haired man, he wears high heeled cowboy boots, jeans, one work glove on his left hand full of vaseline, and a short denim jacket.  He is the boss's son and has recently married a tart.  From the moment he was introduced into the story "pg 25" he has had it out for  Lennie and  George, but he is especially cruel to  Lennie.  He is known for picking fights with big guys.  The  Swamper considered. . ."Well. . . tell you what.    Curley's like a lot of little guys.  He hates big guys.  He's alla the time picking scrap with big guys.  Kind of like he's mad at 'em because he ain't a big guy.  You seen little guys like that ain't you, always scrappy."  He was married a few weeks ago, and ever sense he has been married all of the workers say he has been even cockier and meaner.  After just two weeks his wife already has the "eye." All of the workers think that this is the reason why he has been even meaner.  He Is easily made angry and frustrated.  "pge 36&37"
